Christmas in our Hearts

“Pasko na naman, o kay tulin ng araw. Paskong nagdaan, tila ba kung kalian lang…,” a line from the Christmas song “Pasko na Naman” whick is most frequently heard during the much awaited season of the year, CHRISTMAS. As it comes, excitement fills the air.

The Philippines has the longest and merriest yuletide celebration in the world. It formally begins on December 16, the start of simbang gabi, until the first Sunday of January, Feast of the Three Kings. But informally Filipino Christmas starts in September.
But what is the peak of having a long celebration? What is the real essence of Christmas?

According to Khloe Leygo of Lead, Christmas season is all about giving and sharing.

“We QCAians also celebrate Christmas through our Christmas parties,” SG President Timothy Castillon told this reporter.

According to Reshiele Nazareno of Escoda: It is a Filipino tradition to spend Christmas with our families and loved ones.

According to Ms. Michelle Balgoma, Social Studies teacher, Christmas is about giving and helping each other. It’s about sharing what you have not only to your love ones but also to be a blessing to other people.

For me, Christmas is a reminder how Jesus our savior was brought down to earth to save us from our sins. It is the day when God shows his unconditional love. It is a day in which we spend with the ones we love and those who love us. It is not merely just about presents or Christmas carol. It's about enjoying the time you have on Earth. But most importantly it's about forgetting those bad feelings you might have about someone and celebrating the birth of Christ, Jesus, with the world no matter who you are.
