Students prepare for foundation day  
 


Quezon City Academy will celebrate its 58t7h Foundation day on December 15 and 16.

A thanksgiving mass on the morning of the 15th ushers in the FD festivities. Followed by the traditional pistang palaro participated in by students and teachers, and the final games in the intramurals for men’s and ladies’ volleyball and basketball.

The bureau of MAPEH studies, headed by Czarina Mae Tiu with adviser Miss Belinda Mijares has set the Paligsayawan and Palig-awitan on the next day along with the search for mang-aawit ng taon.

Palig-awitan, focuses in singing like love song, folk songs, Pamaskong awit, novelty song and the cheering.

Palig-sayawan, on the other hand, deals with folk dances, novelty dances, street dances and interpretative dances in the morning.

The following are the presentations for paligsayawan: production number (Kusa vs. Ageo, Mercury vs. Calderon); folk dance (Agap A vs. Jonas, Copper vs. Benitez); novelty dance (Bait vs. Ester, Job and Gold); interpretative dance (Husay vs. Amos, Lead vs. Hidalgo).

Meanwhile, the palig-awitan will be conducted in the afternoon and will highlight christmas songs (Dangal vs. Daniel, Antimony vs. Escoda); Rap song; (Ingat vs. Habacuc, Nickel vs. Abad Santos); Inspirational song (Agap B vs. Josue, Iron vs. Dagohoy); and Cheerdance (Giting vs. Isaias, Barium vs. Felipe).

The search for “Mang-aawit ng Taon” is one of the highlights of the palig-awitan.

Modifications will be made for this year’s celebration compared to that of last year’s. Some of these changes are for the categories of Paligsayawan & Palig-awitan, changes in the criteria for judging to hail the champions in each competition and rule changes for the performances of the contestants.

“We are hoping for the success of this event and we hope that everyone will have fun,” Czarina Tiu of Abad Santos, MAPEH Director said. “We are expecting students’ cooperation for the success of this event,” adviser Ms. Belinda Mijares announced.
